388C-3 Without sponge
388C-3 Without sponge
A disruptive pips-out (semi-long pips) rubber developed by the Chinese table tennis manufacturer "DAWEI." Developed using the latest materials and manufacturing processes, this new design features a rubber composition revision while maintaining a pimple structure similar to the standard "388C-1" model.
【Structure and Feel】
Pimple Arrangement and Weight: Thick, cylindrical pimples are densely packed in a vertical pattern without gaps, giving it a relatively solid weight compared to other OX rubbers.
Sheet Hardness and Trajectory: The top sheet and the pimples themselves are firm, a specification designed to prevent the pimples from bending during impact. It tends to produce a speedy release and a low, linear trajectory.
【Performance Characteristics】
Spin Performance: It is difficult to generate intense spin on your own, and the spin amount tends to be insufficient with weak impact. On the other hand, it is slightly more susceptible to the opponent's spin than typical semi-long pips.
Speed and Distance: As a disruptive pips-out rubber, it is quite bouncy and capable of achieving good distance.
【Control and Difficulty】
While it is bouncy, it is difficult to control the power and make fine adjustments to the distance, which can lead to irregular deflections or "dropping" of the ball in its trajectory. Additionally, since it does not easily create a natural arc, caution is required to avoid net errors when lifting low balls.
【Summary】
This is a highly specialized rubber for advanced players that requires considerable skill to control, as it does not produce predictable shots. Although risky, it is well-suited for players who aim to disrupt their opponent's expectations by leveraging its quick release and irregular trajectory.
